|MPEG 1 and 2 Encoding
|Media Cottage is pleased to
announce a new offering for multimedia producers . . . MPEG ENCODING of your
Our services include encoding to both MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 standards - either from video tape or directly from digital files supplied to us.
If pristine quality, smooth motion playback of your media is important to your project then MPEG is definitely the encoding method of choice.
Applications for MPEG 1 include CD-ROM playback, CD-VIDEO, web delivery, and hard disk playback. Decoding can be achieved either by software codecs on a pentium class machine or via inexpensive hardware boards. Many new graphics boards now include hardware MPEG 1 decoding as a native function.
MPEG 2 - the standard for DVD delivery - is appropriate for full screen, high resolution presentation of your media. When encoded at bitrates of 7 to 10 Mbps, your media will be virtually indistinguishable from your BetaCam master. MPEG 2 playback requires a dedicated hardware decoder (also available from Media Cottage). These decoders are fully MCI command compliant and can be used with most interactive authoring programs.
A number of multimedia producers who specialize in Kiosk and Video Wall development have turned to MPEG 2 playback from hard disk to replace the laser disks formerly required for high quality video reproduction.
Contact us to discuss your MPEG needs. We will be happy to assist you in determining the most appropriate path to achieve your presentation goals and to quote reasonable prices for our encoding services.
